Back to the Old DC

Today was registration day at the Old DC. Calum thought he was going to have to spend the day and told me it was closed. He sat on my lap for awhile then drew a picture for Grandpa. He did like seeing his cubby and some of the toys. A few other parents and kids were there but he didn't seem very excited to see them. He goes for 2 hours on Friday morning then for 3/4 on Tuesday. I'm sure that once he is back into the routine he will have a lot of fun. I'm going to try to get him in for his first hair cut soon. I don't want the kids tugging on his curls. He doesn't want one yet but we'll get him there.

We had a short visit with Grandpa tonight at the hospital. He's doing well. Calum loved his tv and kept trying to find a show for Grandpa to watch (mostly cartoons, of course). I heard that Buddy is missing Grandpa a lot so we may all have to find a way to sneak him in soon. Grant, Jen and Coy will be in town soon.

Happy Birthday Greetings

Happy Birthday to our niece Jen for today and to Grandpa Bain for tomorrow. Grandpa is in the hospital right now so no cake for him this year. I think Calum has his eye on some balloons instead.

More on our visit

The girls, Calum and I went to Merritt for an all too brief visit. The girls had to return to work so we couldn't stay as long as we wanted to. We had a great trip though and Calum loved having a "good visit" with everyone. We stayed with Nanny and Papa and Calum loved the dogs and cat.

There was a bear getting into the garbage at night and every night we would look for it. We never saw it but all that talk of bears has Calum seeing them everywhere now. He and Nanny set up a bear trap - more of a bear detection device - but we never got to use it because the bear didn't come that night. The girls got a quick visit in with their relatives in Kamloops and Calum and I got to meet their newest cousin (what a cutie). I went to the archives for a quick trip, took some more pictures and got to have a visit with mom and dad and a few relatives.

Calum wanted to stay longer but was also glad to be home with Dad. He missed him a lot.

Terrible Twos

Calum has hit the terrible twos. Everyday we struggle over the smallest things. I sometimes can't get him in the bath, and other days he doesn't want to get out. He says "No!" a lot and it's getting harder to get him to change his mind about anything. The good thing is that after he's put up a fuss, he usually says "Sorry Mom" in the nicest way and we hug and are good again. I think he's going to be a very strong willed kid. Wonder what he'll be like as a teen.

We will be in Merritt for the rest of the week. Don's just getting back to Vancouver today and the kids and I will be leaving tomorrow. We are looking forward to seeing Nanny and Papa but will likely miss Jen and Nic this time. Maybe we will hide a geocache with Nanny and Papa though. We've got to think of some good places.

Two more geocachers

Larry and Tabitha joined us yesterday for some geocaching fun. They both found one and we had a lot of fun. Don, Calum, Dakota and I found 2 more today in Queen Elizabeth Park. We've had a great weekend of caching fun. If you haven't tried it yet you have to. We get to do two of our favorite things - explore and take pictures. Hope you all enjoyed your long weekend.

What are we doing now?

Calum, Don and I went out with Grandma, Grandpa and Buddy to Sasquatch Park yesterday. We were looking for a micro cache, but the thing was hidden on a very busy forestry service road so we didn't find it. It was a bad hide - lots of dust from passing cars, no place to really park and no logic behind where the thing was supposed to be hidden. Oh well, we had a nice drive and went out to the lake afterwards for a little walk. Calum and Buddy loved the boardwalk. When we got home, Calum refused to get out of his seat. He wanted to go again. Later last night he asked us "What are we doing now?" because he was ready for another adventure. No plans yet today. Calum's looking for something to do though so we may go out looking for some trouble soon.

Old DC is closed (for awhile)

Calum is free! The Old DC is closed for the summer. He's a very happy boy, staying up late to paint Dora pictures and sleeping in (going to miss his cartoons). Yesterday I had some work to do so he had to go in to the office with Don and Dakota. He made it the whole day - and came back telling me he was going again tomorrow.

Not much new for us. We are trying to decide where to go for a bit of a break this summer. The girls are interested in camping but I don't know if Calum will like it. Calum's planning a big party for Grandpa's birthday this year though. There will be Spiderman icecream cake, umm....well, that's as far as he's planned. Once you've decided on the cake, nothing else matters.

Now I'm off to do some chores before Calum wakes up.
