Busy days (and nights)
Been awhile since I updated. We've been busy. Wondering what's up with the Bain/Holmes family. Read below:
Don - Last seen heading for Kelowna as part of the mysterious "Campbell delegation". Actually he's attending the First Ministers meeting with the Leadership Council. The night before he left I asked him what he was going to wear. He started searching for his suit, not seen since Grant and Jen's wedding. After taking one look at the bundle, Dakota and I decided he needed a couple of new shirts and ties so off we went. Calum and I have been sending him text messages and it appears all is going well so far.
Desiree - Quit her job awhile back and is enjoying the free life again. She's busy with bass lessons and is even learning some of the songs Don loves. She's planning a "Survivor Night" tonight and we will have a few of her friends over to watch Survivor and a movie. Poor Don is going to miss all of the fun.
Dakota - Still delivering her papers on Wednesday and Saturday, though it's getting harder now that Christmas is on the way and she's getting a lot of flyers. She does enjoy having a little extra cash though. She's back on the skateboard and is doing well.
Calum - Now has two teeth coming in that we've named "Chomper 1" and "Chomper 2". Likes to bite mom with them. He is very nearly crawling - expect he'll be really mobile soon so we are enjoying the peace and quiet while we can. He's settled into a routine at daycare and enjoys going there. I still go up to feed him at lunchtime and Desiree, Chris and Dakota visit too so he's a very popular little boy. We just got him a new winter jacket but he doesn't like to be bundled up too mych. He's finished him swim lessons and even went off the low diving board on the last class. It was funny. They wore life jackets and one instructor just passed him down to another that was already in the water. Still, not many kids can say they've gone off the diving board at 8 months old.
Me - Working, finished with the ASL classes, started Christmas shopping. Calum and I plan to put up the decorations this weekend. Most of my shopping was done online so far so I just wait for the packages to arrive as I work away. Expect to be very happy when Don returns from his latest trip - the last for awhile thank goodness. Things just aren't the same around here without him.
That's it for us. Hope all is well for everyone else. Happy almost birthday mom.

Our little ebayer
Calum and I have been cleaning out his closets. We've sold some of his old clothes on ebay and he managed to raise almost $200. We are putting it towards Christmas presents for his sisters. He's been helping do some online shopping - he just loves hitting enter before I am ready. It will be interesting to see what we actually have ordered.
This Saturday is his last swimming lesson. He sure enjoyed them. I may get an underwater disposable camera and take some photos to remember it all.
Don is currently in Victoria. Lucky guy. It's for work, of course. He has to go off again next week for 3 days. Calum is busy teething so you never know just what his mood is going to be like. Last night he was grumpy and we did a lot of pacing. I think he missed his dad too because he just wouldn't settle.
No new pictures today. I may take some rain/fall shots next week. Anyway, I can't be downstairs too long because Calum's "where the heck is my mommy" sense always seems to know when I get too far away. He's napping at the moment but it won't last long so I'd better try to get some chores done.
Hope you are all having a good week.

More pics
Forgot to report - Calum looked pretty cute as Harry Potter. We didn't get any pics as he had his costume on for a grand total of about 15 minutes. I've got everything on hand though and am going to get a few pics of him later today. Check back later this weekend. Notice the Harry Potter like scar on his forhead? He just had to pull a wicker basket down on himself.

Heh, what are you doing with the candy?
Hope you all had a good Halloween. We decided not to take Calum out this year. He's much too small to be needing the candy and it wasn't the best of weather anyway. I did take him a few houses down the street to look at their decorations. There is a house on our street that really goes overboard on the decorations but the kids seem to like it. Calum was more interested in all of the people out for a walk than the lights.
We had a fair number of trick or treaters. It took them awhile to get started but once they did they came in big groups. Calum watched them all with big eyes. He also noticed we were giving away the candy. I think he may have something to say about that next year.
Calum has now completed his first month at daycare. Things are going fairly well. I still have to go up to feed him at lunch time and have to be there to drop him off in the morning so I end up walking back and forth all day. One day I made 4 trips - luckily it's not too far. I'm glad he's settling in a bit though. He loves to get down and play, is really curious about the other kids, is getting pretty independent and seems more able to entertain himself.
Hmmm....really sleepy today. I'd better get back to work before it's time to hike up the hill again to get Calum.
