Happy Birthday Desiree!
Today is Desiree's birthday. She had a party with her friends on the weekend and we will be having cake and celebrating next week for both her and Calum. It will be a big year for both of them - Desiree is 16 and Calum will be 1 (March 11)!

Happy Valentine's Day
My big Valentine is in Victoria for another couple of days but my little one gave me lots of hugs today. Don did leave a surprise for me though - some great books that I have had on my Chapters list for awhile and a Don Bain Exclusive CD. I gave him some DVDs last week, it was supposed to be a surprise but I ordered them using his account number at C&L and he got an email when they were shipped....Oh well. Guess Don and I are a big bunch of nerds.
Calum gave his sisters each a rose and a chocolate covered strawberry. I had to help this year but next year I'll bet we all get nice drawings or something with glitter and glue.
Happy Birthday Bonnie! Good luck with the exams and papers Larry and Tabs. I've got to pick up my little grumpy one soon so back to work.

Beware of the quiet
We had a nice weekend, the most eventful thing being the wind storm and power outage that had us bundling the kids up and heading out to Surreytill the house warmed up again. Calum had visits with Grandma and Grandpa Bain, Larry, Tabitha, cousin Jen and uncle Rob. He loved all of the attention.
Our little boy is very curious. Don and I have known this for awhile but we are just discovering what it really means. Despite our baby proofing the living room, he still finds things to get into. Whenever he gets quiet we know he's into something. So far, it's been the DVDs, the cat food, the recycling, dad's Blackberry, the phone (he's even called his daycare) and our newspaper. He has also discovered yucky things like bits of cookie that have mysteriously ended up under the cushion or chips that his sisters have left behind. He got into a chocolate cookie yesterday and made a real mess. I feel like I am constantly chasing him with a washcloth.
He's much better today and off to daycare. Desiree is sick though so it continues. I think Don will have some more pictures later this week. Check back soon.

Getting Better
Calum and I went to see his regular doctor on Monday. He still has a slight ear infection that his drops weren't clearing up so he's back on oral antibiotics for another 10 days as well as some sinus medication to clear up the cold. I've got mine back as well but it's not too bad - just enough to have me have to carry a box of tissue around.
All else is well. Not much to report as we are all busy with work and school. Don just finished a couple of days of meetings and had yesterday off. He was busy conquering the world on his computer all day, though we did go to visit Calum and lunch to give him his medicine. Lucky boy! He had all of us, including Chris in to visit him.
Oh, he is now standing. They told us he stood for 30 seconds at daycare and tried to take a step. He manages to stay up for about 10 seconds for us. We've put gates up and turned the dining area into another play area. Every room is Calum's room these days. We even had to move the plants into the kitchen because someone kept finding clever ways to get into the dirt. He did things like put a ball in the pot only to have to get it and a handful of dirt.
